Why I Started Dangerous Man Day

by Al Larson

Left to themselves men are dangerous—to themselves and others. You and I have seen the sad trail of damage left in their wake after they have succumbed to moral and financial pressures: broken marriages, scarred sons and daughters, twisted morals and ethics.

God put Dangerous Man Day on my heart and the hearts of like-minded men to give men the encouragement and long-term help they need to live dangerously for good. Dangerous Man Day helps men hear God firsthand in areas that are issues for them now. They connect with the Living God and learn to say “yes” to Him and “no” to the world.

The Dangerous Man lives like Jesus, the most dangerous man who ever lived. He did more damage for good than anyone. And here’s the amazing invitation: He beckons us still, “Follow me.” Passivity will not cut it in times like these. Choosing aggressively to follow the living Christ in real life with other like-hearted men—that’s our awesome challenge!

Our Mission

We exist to multiply generations of dangerous men in and through kingdom partnerships (churches, schools, and other ministries comprising Christ's body).

Our Vision

We envision expanding statewide networks of dangerous men who are impacting men of different generations, life-on-life. We see this happening in real life one man, one church, one relationship, one interaction at a time.

Scriptural Under-pinning

"… imprisonments, with countless beatings, and often near death. 25) Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I was adrift at sea; 26) on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers; in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure." II Corinthians 11:23b-27

“He’s a dangerous man …” Luke 23:5, The Message

Why would Paul expose himself over and over to danger, even at the end of his life when men are usually motivated by security and comfort? Why would he keep taking risks?
First, he was committed at the core of his being to following the one, safe leader - Jesus.
He was committed to following the leadership of Christ.
Acts 22:8 "Who are you, Lord?
Acts 22:10: "What shall I do, Lord?"

Second, he knew God's mission and calling for his life -- to reach the "Gentiles".
Acts 22:17b: "the Gentiles -- to whom I am sending you …"

And he became a dangerous man -- willing to incur danger and take captives from Satan's rule.
Acts 22:18 "to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God …"
